This trio was the rhythm section for Emily Takahashi's Quintet which performed and recorded for many years. This group's focus is on beauty and its contrasting energy, which can be interesting, strange or darkly quirky. Billy Strayhorn's "Lotus Blossom" and Steve Swallow's "Ladies in Mercedes" represent the sweet. Tart pieces include Steve Lacy's "Papa's Midnight Hop" and Carla Bley's "Ictus". The band's repertoire is international and the settings include Art's melodica and Bill's arco bass to vary the orchestration. The group began in 2023 and is looking forward to sharing the tart and the sweet in the near future.
